World Game Cup 2012 – Cannes, France – 17th-19th February

The fifth annual World Game Cup is kicking off next month in France. While it’s a little further afield than our usual tournament announcements, many Irish players have travelled to this event in the past (Doctor DooM took top 8 in MvC3 last year) and our largest entourage yet is making the trip this year.

With team and solo tournaments in Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition Version 2012, Soulcalibur V, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, King of Fighters XIII, Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike Online Edition, Blazblue Continuum Shift Extend, The King Of Fighters 2002 UM and Mortal Kombat plus extra side events in Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and Street Fighter X Tekken this is shaping up to be a massive event.
For more spice, several world class players from Japan will also be making their way to the event, including Tokido, Mago, Kindevu and EVO World Champion Fuudo.

Registration is closing soon so head over to the World Games Cup website for more info.

Also be sure to check out our forums to discuss your travel plans with the rest of the Irish heading over.

Kayane’s impressions of Lexia from Soul Calibur 5

Over on her blog Kayane has written about her experience of trying out Xianghua’s daughter Lexia for the first time, while at the Paris game show.

With a rejigged command list, and complaints of a dodgy ps3 pad, Kayane’s says she felt at first like a good beginner, nonetheless she gives a rundown of how Lexia felt and with a 15 odd minute gameplay video to boot

I’ve embedded the video for your pleasure, and you can check out the blog post here, written in dual languages so even if you’re not into Soul Calibur it provides a nice refresher course in French.

Kayane interviews Namco’s Harada

As always a very polished video from Geek Studio

Kayane interviews Harada-san at France’s Japan Expo 2011 about his feelings towards the Tekken community, the new Tekken CGI Movie: Blood Vengeance, Soul Calibur and more.
