KOF XIII Belfast Ranking Battles Session 1 – Belfast, 4th February

Dragon Slayers from the Queen’s University Belfast are running Ireland’s first dedicated King of Fighters XIII season with their ranking battles next month. This will be the first of six sessions for this ranking season.

As usual, the Space in Queen’s University Belfast Student’s Union is the host for the event.
The tournament will start at 14.00 sharp so please show up before then. Entry to the event if gloriously free so you have no excuse not to go!

Day of Champions 6 – UMvC3, BBCS2, MK + KoF13 – Dublin, January 28th

Back for their sixth event in a new streamlined tournament format, Day of Champions is here to cover all your Dublin-not-Super-Street-Fighter-4 needs!

The tournaments will be held in the Exchange in Temple Bar, Dublin. The venue will open from 12.00 noon with tournaments starting from 12.30, so make sure you’re down on time for registration! Tournaments will be running in King of Fighters XIII, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, Blazblue Continuum Shift 2 and Mortal Kombat – in that order. All tournaments will be run on Xbox 360, except for MK which is on PS3.
Entry to the venue is €5 and you can either pay €7 for entry to one tournament, or €10 for entry to all 4.

Tempest 10 – SSFIV – Cork, February 11th

Cork’s Street Fighter 4 tournament season is finally starting back up after a brief holiday where you all were hopefully ignoring your families while you trained up SSFIV Arcade Edition Version 2012.

The NewPort Cafe Bar on Paul’s Street will be host to this terminal event as usual. The venue will open for casuals and registration from 12:00 and the SSFIV tournament will start at 13:00 sharp.
It’s €15 to enter the tournament, but if it’s your first time you get €5 off. Alternatively, if have been before and you bring a new player you’ll get €5 off both your entries – so get recruiting!

As with last Tempest there will be a smaller side tournament that will run from around 15:30 with a €5 buy in. This month’s side event is either King of Fighter 13 or Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3. To vote for this month’s side event and discussion of Tempest in general head over to the forums.

Test Your Hype – MK + BBCS2 + KoF13 – Dublin, December 10th

In an attempt to brighten up your Christmas with some festive blood and gore, Test Your Hype is here as Ireland’s first Mortal Kombat 9 centric event!

In addition to the standard main Mortal Kombat tournament there will also be a MK 2v2 Teams event. MK will not be the only game on show however, Blazblue Continuum Shift 2 and King of Fighters XIII also be having tournaments on the day.
The Xtreme Gaming Cafe on Liffy Street, Dublin will be the host for this event. Registration and casuals will start from 11.30 and the first tournament will start at 13.00. Entry is €5 for the main MK event and €3 for each of the side events. Alternatively you can pay €10 to enter everything on the day.

King of Fighters XIII Console Balance Change List

The console release of King of Fighters XIII brings with it not only a half dozen new characters, but also a full rebalancing of the existing game’s cast.
The first batch of changes have been posted on KoFXIII’s official site and features Hwa Jai, Benimaru, Mai, Mature, Shen, Clark, Leona and Takuma. Unfortunately the list is in Japanese, but the folks over at MMCafe have been hard at work translating it.
The remaining 3 parts of the change list should be posted soon as there’s just under a month until the game ships.

Six Character Primers for Team Elisabeth and Team Kim in King of Fighter XIII

With King of Fighters XIII once again two months away thanks to its recent delay, Atlus USA are eager to sate the fighting population’s thirst for content with some new mini tutorial videos.
These six clips give a brief run down of all the Specials, Desperations and Neo Maxes for a new batch of characters: Elisabeth, Duo Lon and Shen Woo from Team Elisabeth and Kim, Hwa Jai and Raiden from Team Kim.

King of Fighters XIII won’t be releasing until the 25th of November, so you might want to space out watching these primers between now and then. You can find them all embedded after the break.

A Brief Look at King of Fighters XIII’s Mission Mode

To tide everyone over after the recent announcement of King of Fighters XIII’s release delay, Atlus released a couple of short clips demoing the Mission Mode present in the game.
Mission Mode is the standard trial and tutorials mode found in many recent fighters where the player is given a combo on screen. They must then perform that combo before moving onto the next, more difficult trial. So far it’s looking like each character will have 10 trials to go through.
You can find both of the trials embedded after the break, including Kyo’s ridiculous looking Level 9 trial.

KoFXIII Character Primers for Console Exclusive Characters – Billy Kane, Flame Iori and Saiki

Atlus have just released another batch of mini character tutorial videos which focus on the new console exclusive characters for King of Fighters XIII. Like the last ones, these don’t show off any fancy combos and instead purely show the basic Specials, Desperations and Neo Maxes for each character. Each move is also accompanied by the inputs required to perform the moves.
As far as I know this is the first footage available of Billy and Flame Iori, so anyone craving new KoFXIII information should definitely check out the videos after the break.
